Somewhere between the paper airplanes and the singing, I forgot I was working. The camera was still in my hands. The ocean was still crashing against the coastline. Yet somewhere along the way, the engagement session became something else entirely. An experience.

Marbella Estate sits along a rugged stretch of coastline in St. Thomas, where cliffs painted in warm shades of amber, gold, and weathered earth meet the sea. Waves arrive with force before softening against the shoreline, creating a landscape that feels both wild and welcoming. It suited Jordanne and Brandon perfectly.

In the weeks leading up to the session, we spent time discussing the feeling of the session. Not poses or shot lists, but presence. The freedom to simply enjoy one another and allow the day to unfold naturally. And that’s exactly what happened.

They painted together. Folded paper airplanes and launched them into the coastal breeze. Chased one another across the beach. Laughed often. Sang along to music drifting through the air.

What stood out most was how little attention they paid to the camera. They weren’t trying to create beautiful photographs.
They were creating beautiful moments.

As the afternoon unfolded, I found myself directing less and observing more. Each moment seemed to lead naturally to the next. Inspiration moved freely through the space around us, and the photographs became less about documenting an engagement session and more about participating in an experience.

When I look back on their time at Marbella Estate, I don’t remember individual frames as much as I remember the feeling they left behind. A sense of openness. A sense of play. A reminder that love is not only built through commitment, but through curiosity, joy, and the willingness to remain fully present with one another.
